Previous work by The Army Research Laboratory with intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) has described challenges such as promoting trust and collaboration. Teams will often collaborate just enough to complete a task. Expert teams will have more collaboration. It is the goal of this project to create a tutor which can simulate these factors and produce performance levels on par with expert teams. To accomplish these goals we are utilizing the Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT).
We are testing this tutor with a military team task of surveillance with a two man team. In successfully creating a tutor for a small scale team, we can then use the framework for bigger teams with more diverse roles. This project is funded by the Army Research Laboratory.
